Calumet Harbor & River...
The other day I was able to go with Ed to take one of the boats he Captains out of the water. Calumet Harbor is about 11 miles south of the city. I always drive over the river on my way back and forth from Michigan... it's way better on a boat! The boat was tall enough that they had to lift a few bridges. Cool!!! This is also where they keep some of the salt used in the winter for our roadways. Illinois Department of Transportation alone uses 140,000 tons of sodium chloride in an average winter!
