A few more images from the Re-Build day...

I'm still editing through the massive amount of images from the week... this is a picture Bob took of us bright and early on the morning of the work day. Cindy has been my best friend since the first day we met (I was 16) and Michael is her man:)

The Rebuild Day...

Wow... what a day! We started at 6:45am and went until 9pm... of course the last few hours were filled with margaritas, mexican food, and story telling.:) Tons of laughter and hard work made for a great day. I'm so impressed with how many awesome people I met on Saturday... I'm ready to do it all again next weekend, but I think they need some rest.): The next work day is Oct. 11.

Rebuilding Together...

my first concrete pour...

This week I'm out in Sacramento, CA working with Rebuilding Together. They are a non-profit organization that rehabs homes for low income homeowners. The actual 'rebuild' day is Sat when 19 homes through out a neighborhood get lots love. The day involves over 1,000 volunteers, 6 months of planning, many amazing donations from sponsors, and a ton of hard work. A few homes involve more extensive repairs that require the house captains to start in advance. These are a few images from my first outing in the area. I participated in a work week, a few years ago, in New Orleans after the hurricanes and it was an amazing experience. I can't wait to see all the magic happen on Saturday.

Tierra...

As soon as I got up this morning Tierra (one of Cindy's cats) took over my bed... first for sleep then for play.

the storm...

The last few days of the trip were wet... Jamaica got more rain than normal, a few towns along the coast were completely flooded and left with enormous amounts of mud to sift through. Although I would have preferred sun... the colors of the storm were great and it didn't stop us from playing in the waves.

diving clips...

Just a few shorts from the ever talented Eduardo! It was fun to be back in the water... even though the diving in Jamaica is nothing compared to Mexico. Ed spoiled me by having my first open water dive be in Cozumel:) I wish I could dive everyday...

Horseback riding,

Right outside our villa was a huge pasture with horses. Liz was smart enough to run into the owner of the horses and we got to take a ride up into the mountains and then into the ocean! I've been riding for many years but never in the ocean on a horse that is swimming... it was a really cool and odd feeling. The one image of Liz and John in the water was taken by our guide after he had fallen into the water... so there are a few wet spots:) I was very busy keeping my "non-water" camera dry! Oh and the last image is everyone crashed out after the ride.
PS... my horse was named Breezes and after the ride we had a good laugh:)

Shipwreck...

One of the local Conch divers told us that there was a shipwreck about 60 ft out from our villa. Ed decided that before we choose that as a sight to scuba diving we should swim out there and see if we could find it. We did... there were also two plane wrecks close by. They were too deep for the camera to pick up, and as previously stated I can't get any depth in my 'free-diving'.:) It was funny because as we made it out there another crew was coming up from their scuba dive.
The dive instructor had a fish in one had and a spear in the other!
The first picture is the view from the water... our villa is the white roof in the bottom right hand corner. I'll post some cool video from our dive as soon as I figure out how to do it. Ed got some great stingray footage!

Ja-Man...

Just got back from Jamaica! Here are a few pics from a snorkeling adventure in front of our villa. The first one is Eddie free diving and the last one is a supper cool picture Eddie took of me on his way up from a dive! By the way... my free-diving skills lack any sort of depth, Ed makes it look so easy... it's not!

InVision...

A few weeks ago my show went up at InVision. I'm showing 21 framed pieces, that includes several polaroid transfers, and for the first time I am showing my journals. I learned about journaling many moons ago from the master... Mr. Walker. Journaling has been a great way for me to keep track of time, see where I have been, as well as being a great place to put everything I love but don't know what to do with. The show has been a awesome experience, I've gotten many responses and even sold a few pieces!

Next Stop Spinsterland!

This is the last week to see the best 'unromantic comedy' Next Stop Spinsterland. The girls of Not Quite Coy productions have been working on this project for five years. It's been really fun  and inspiring to work with them. They have dedicated a tremendous amount of time and energy to their passion. Not to mention the play is hysterical! These are a few shots from the opening night and after party.
